08.18.03: Davis leashes Underdogs
Thomas: 'Clive has a true love for artists and their music'

The Underdogs, the production and songwriting team of Harvey Mason Jr.
and Damon Thomas, have signed an exclusive two-year joint label venture
with Clive Davis and J Records.
J Records will handle all marketing, promotion, sales and distribution
responsibilities for Mason and Thomas' Underdog Entertainment. The duo
will develop, produce and sign new acts to Underdog, as well as
continue to produce artists on J Records, among other labels.
In less than three years, the Underdogs have contributed to more than
50 singles and albums that have reached gold, platinum and
multiplatinum sales status. Current projects include "American Idol"
Ruben Studdard's upcoming album on J Records and discs from Craig
David, Heather Headley, Babyface, Dream and Joe. The Underdogs have
worked with Justin Timberlake, Tyrese, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey and
Jennifer Lopez.
"Clive has a true love for artists and their music, and that is
exciting to us," Thomas said. "We are confident in working with Clive
and his staff that we will develop some really special talent."
L.A.-based Underdog Entertainment sports four state-of-the-art studio
facilities and offices for marketing, A&R and production staff.
