06.15.04: Rondor walking with Underdogs

Rondor Music has entered into a joint-venture co-publishing deal with production and songwriting duo the Underdogs. Under the deal, the Underdogs -- aka Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas -- also will seek out and develop new songwriting talent for Ronder. The deal builds Mason and Thomas' Underdog brand. Last year, the duo inked a two-year joint-venture label deal for Underdog Entertainment with Clive Davis' J Records.

"Our mandate has always been to seek out relationships with writers who distinguish themselves as great composers," Rondor Music president Lance Freed said. "I believe this is only the beginning of a huge career for them. We are honored and grateful that they have chosen to share it with Rondor."

The Underdogs have collaborated with such acts as Justin Timberlake, Tyrese, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Pink, B2K, Brandy, Jennifer Lopez, Luther Vandross and Brian McKnight. They are working on the Backstreet Boys' reunion album, as well as with Braxton and Omarion.
